!!!CHANGES COMING TO BOOK TRADING POLICY!!!
As of January 1st, 2010, you will be able to use book credit for up to 50% of a purchase. For example, if you wish to buy a $10.00 book, and have $8.00 of credit, you may only use $5.00 of your credit towards the purchase of the book. You will have to pay for the other $5.00 of the purchase. You will still have the remaining $3.00 on file for your next purchase.
(You will always have to spend some cash, otherwise, we
wouldn’t be able to stay in business. Utility companies and our landlord
do not accept books as payment, so we have to have some money coming in to keep
our doors open. J
We accept debit cards, Visa, Mastercard and cash. )

setting.
At Characters you'll find knowledgeable and friendly staff, good food, good books and the world's best Coffee from Salt Spring Island Roasting Company. Their products are Fair Trade, Organic and roasted locally.
Characters policy of sourcing out locally made products also gives you the best Cinnamon Buns in Vancouver, from Grounds for Coffee. The perfect match with a cup of the world's best coffee!

Bookstore Philosophy
We are well organized, and carry only clean gently used books at fair prices.
We pay cash for unusual titles and collectable books. We trade and give book credit for fiction, paper backs and children’s books.
We are not interested in book club fiction, text books, computer books, and Serial romances.
BOOK TRADING POLICY
We establish the selling price once we have decided which of your
books we need for our inventory. You get 30% of our selling price
in trade credit towards other books.
Any FICTION books we accept will
give you credit to use for FICTION books.
Any NON-FICTION
books we accept will give you an OPEN CREDIT that you can use towards
any used books in the store.
Trade credit accounts left inactive for two
years will be closed. So use 'em or lose 'em.
Please do not be offended if we cannot use your books. Supply, demand and storage space dictate the quantity of stock we can carry.
